Tables and chairs are the least exciting item we rent and the one most likely to be missing. The inflatable gets booked six weeks out; seating gets remembered the week of, when everyone suddenly realizes thirty people are coming and the house has eleven chairs.
It’s also the cheapest problem to solve in advance and the most annoying to solve late.
What to Order, and How Much
The count people get wrong is seating for adults at a children’s party. Kids don’t sit down — adults do, for most of the afternoon. Seat the grown-ups and you can under-provide for the children without anyone noticing.
- Round tables suit meals and receptions, and make conversation work better across the table.
- Rectangular tables are more efficient for buffets, gift tables, cake tables and anywhere against a wall.
Most parties want both: rounds for people, rectangles for things. A useful rule for a mixed backyard party — seat about two-thirds of your total headcount and you’ll be right. Everyone is never sitting at once.
Church Halls, Reunions and Indoor Events
Central runs a lot of the kind of event that needs seating more than it needs entertainment — family reunions, church functions, school and community meetings in the halls off Joor Road and around Central Intermediate School.
For indoor bookings, the two things worth telling us are the access route and whether there’s an elevator or steps. Stacked tables and chairs move quickly on a flat route and slowly up a staircase, and knowing in advance means we schedule the time properly rather than arriving short.
Ordering With Everything Else
Tables and chairs are the easiest thing to add to an existing order, and there’s no reason to source them separately. If you’re already booking an inflatable or a tent, adding seating means one delivery rather than two.
If you want the seating under the tent — which for a summer event you almost certainly do — tell us, and we’ll bring both on the same run and set them up together rather than leaving you to shift furniture in the heat.
